Border crossing
We indicate the national border by means of a Turn Instructions with a flag as country designation. All border crossings are eligible for this approach: through roads, local roads and, if possible, also ferries with cross-border routes.
Default:
- VI: Road shield if present | Country + flag
- Instruction: Continue
- TTS: “>" <road number> in <flag>”. If no road number applies, use the street name.
Examples:
- VI country + flag: België 🇧🇪 and Duitsland 🇩🇪
- TTS: > E25 in 🇧🇪 and > A52 in 🇩🇪
N.B.: The flag symbol is shown in the navigation panel with two letters; as an abbreviation of the country name.
N.B.: Do not use “ri” in TTS, because if Waze decides that the border crossing is in e.g. Germany, it will say it literally, while the greater-than sign in the Netherlands is also said as “richting” (direction).
