Segment restrictions

  • For each road it is possible to add time-based segment restriction (TBSR).
  • Click Add new for A > B, B > A or Two way.
  • If applicable check Toll road.
  • Save the restrictions by clicking Apply.

For an example of a time based restriction combined with destination traffic allowed see Complex Restrictions.

Vehicle types

For which vehicle traffic a road is restricted depends on the road sign or physical blockade:

If poles are blocking car traffic but there are no road signs restricting motor cycle taffic, then the passthrough of motorcycles should be allowed by a TBR.

Lanes

By default, the restriction applies to the entire segment. It is also possible to select Left lane, Middle lane, Right lane via a dropdown list. These partial restrictions can be used for bus lanes, exits that are prohibited during rush hour, routes that change direction for morning and evening rush hour, bridges and ferries that are only available during the day and roads that are closed in the winter.

Example partially restricted segment

On Lage Klompweg, Weesp, a lock has been set up with Private road segments for destination traffic without restriction and a Street segment with a restriction.

This is the overview screen with the restrictions - in this example only one - on the segment in question.

  • Without restrictions a segment is accessible for all vehicle types on all days. When one or more restrictions have been entered, these restrictions together indicate who is allowed to drive on the segment and when. In the example there is a restriction with prohibited for all vehicles from 7:00 - 10:00, so outside of this the segment is fully available. When the restriction is entered with allowed, a vehicle type, an exemption pass, or a minimum number of passengers (we do not use the latter in the Netherlands) must always be selected. Within the specified times of a allowed restriction, other traffic is prohibited. Outside the specified times, other users are also allowed to drive there.
  • All partial restrictions only have effect during their time and in their direction.
  • If a permitted restriction is set for a particular exemption pass in one direction, this does not mean that vehicles with this pass are prohibited in the other direction. Likewise, if a toll-free restriction is set for all vehicle types at a certain time of day, this will not result in these vehicle types having to pay tolls for the rest of the day.
  • Any date range specified will not be shown on the screen below.

For more explanation see the USA wiki on partial restrictions.
