Motorcycling

One of the three vehicle types that can be selected within the app is the motorcycle. Although there are many types of motorcycles, including variants with three wheels, we in the Dutch Waze community adhere to the guidelines that the government has drawn up for vehicles. According to the Dutch legislator (provided a vehicle has several front wheels) two front wheels are considered one wheel if they are <465mm apart. Therefore, trikes, the Can-Am and most three-wheeled motorcycles do NOT fall under the Waze "motorcycles" category, and users of these vehicles should opt for the "car" vehicle type.

Routing

Other advantages of using this vehicle type as Waze navigation is that the routing engine takes into account so-called 'filtering'. In the event of traffic jams, cars will be given a new route more quickly than motorcycles because they can drive between or along the traffic jam.

Furthermore, there are a number of specific signs that have a great impact on motorcyclists. There are the signs: C01, C11, G07/G11 and G07, G11,G13 that prohibit the entry of motorcycles.

C06 is often incorrectly seen as C02, see the page about restrictions.

Cut

Road authorities often use bollards or other barriers to interrupt a through route. Sometimes engines can pass through such breaks. We are cautious about putting such shortcuts on the map: Not everything that is possible and allowed needs to be on our map.
If motorcycles can and are allowed to pass this barrier, it may be considered to designate this passage only for motorcycles. Assess the complete roadscape (surroundings, paving) to see whether the passage is suitable. If so, then draw a connection segment at the cut with a restriction that prohibits car traffic and allows motorcycle traffic and lock on L3. If in doubt, don't do it.
